Terms of Service

fYT Rating · Last updated: 21 August 2026

By installing or using fYT Rating ("the application") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

What the application is

fYT Rating is a free, open-source Android application that displays and changes the like status of YouTube videos on the account you sign in with. It can also answer rating requests from other applications on your device that you have explicitly allowed.

It is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC or YouTube.

Your account

Using the features that touch your account requires you to sign in with a Google account and grant the requested authorisation. You may withdraw that authorisation at any time, either in the application or from your Google account settings.

You are responsible for the ratings applied through the application, including those applied at the request of another application you have allowed. Allow only applications you trust; each one you allow can read and change your ratings.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the application only for your own account and in accordance with the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google API Services User Data Policy.

You agree not to use the application to manipulate ratings artificially, to automate mass rating, or to act on an account you are not authorised to use.

Availability

The application depends on the YouTube Data API, which is operated by Google and may change, restrict or discontinue functionality at any time. Some limitations are outside the project's control — for example, YouTube reports no rating at all for videos marked as made for kids.

The application is provided free of charge, with no guarantee of availability, continued development, or fitness for any particular purpose.

No warranty

The application is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any claim, damage or other liability arising from the use of the application, including any change made to your ratings, whether by you, by an application you allowed, or by mistake.

Licence

The source code is published under the Apache License 2.0. Those licence terms govern the code; these terms govern use of the application as distributed.

Changes

These terms may change. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date at the top updated. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
